The bullet rings
in the empty bucket
We watch
as they paint
the walls red
Some try
to repaint
in white
but red
is so hard
to cover
Some will break
their backs
trying anyway
We're all
just a drop
in a bucket
Trying to keep
our form
The day
we choose
to live outside
our limits
is the day
we will
be free

Very true, Torie. Sometimes it is hard to shuck off those limitations. But it is the soul's journey.
ReplyDeleteIt is the soul's journey, indeed. Thanks for making a visit, Sherry. Lovely to see you as always :)
DeleteA drop in the bucket may not whte wash anything, but it might save the day! Such a fine combination of images.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Susan! :)
DeleteOh yes, we do need to challenge ourselves sometime indeed. If humans always lived within their limits, perhaps mankind never would have flown across an ocean or rocketed into space.
ReplyDeleteVery true! Thank you, Mary :)
DeleteP.S. Great to see you again, Torie.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you too! Thank you :)
DeleteI agree with the ultimate statement in this that we have to live outside the limitations put on us by others and even ourselves, at times
ReplyDeleteWe truly do. That's the only way to be our true selves!
DeleteSo true.. a person is bound by his limits ..and the choices he makes will determine how to set him free! Excellent write.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Thank you, Sanaa :)
DeleteInteresting observations, and your visual form looks like the drop falling.

DeleteSo much truth here Torie--beautifully penned
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Audrey :)
Delete"The day / we choose / to live outside / our limits / is the day / we will / be free"...exactly...so wisely put...
ReplyDeleteThank you for that, Sumana :)
DeleteYes red is a hard stain to cover - it is a stain of hardship and truth..of suffering and living..and yet perhaps there is always hope of pushing past our limits?
ReplyDeleteI do believe there is, Jae Rose :) I appreciate your visit :)
DeleteStarted dark but a bright end was in sight.
ReplyDeleteGlad you felt that. Thanks, GL :)
DeleteSo nice Torie, to think of ourselves as breaking out of our perceived llmitations. I like your view of freedom.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughtful comment, Myrna :)
DeleteWe never know what we can do until we try.
