I'll Always Breathe You In

I'm borrowing you
I hope that's
okay
I know I'll have to
give you up
one of these
days
But until
that day comes
I'm going to soak up
all the moments
you make me feel
undone
I'll cover every inch
of you
with the softness
of my skin
and before we close
our eyes
each night
I'll always
breathe you in

  1. there is a humility in knowing we are borrowing someone...and that they are not ours...it also reminds us that we should appreciate the time we have...

  2. Hi! I loved this--especially how loved ones can make us feel undone!

  3. Torie, this is really beautiful. Sometimes it is nice to enjoy those moments...even when one knows they are impermanent. Always good to see you here!

  5. I imagine this is what you might feel with a lover that is not wholly yours; the passion the love and the fear of parting.

  8. A poem like this is wise.. and it get me to think about the song by Sting.. "if you love someone - set them free".. and I think the prospect of having them stay out of free will is much larger.

    1. Thanks for stopping by for another visit, Bjorn :) You prompted me to take a listen to some Sting. Haven't heard that song in a while. Gotta love Sting though ;)

  10. I did that once. Borrowed her even as she borrowed me. It was very nice. Never grew tired of her, never stopped loving her, still think of her all the time.

    1. I know that feeling of thinking of someone often. He and I were apart for ten years and then reconnected. We just got married in May and this month we are actually celebrating being back in each other's lives for five years. We both feel extremely grateful for having this chance to be together. You just never know what the universe has in store for you. I say, always follow your heart ;)

I guess I just felt like sharing this with you. Thank you for stopping by :)
